Building Foundations That Can Carry Success.
It's interesting how much attention we give to what people build...
Businesses.
Homes.
Ministries.
Careers.
Families.
We admire what rises above the ground. Very few people stop to admire the foundation underneath it. Yet the foundation determines everything. No one celebrates the months spent preparing the ground. No one drives past a construction site and says, "Look at those incredible footings." They're invisible. But without them, nothing else lasts.
I think life works much the same way. We all want success yet few of us get excited about building the habits that can actually support it.
Discipline.
Patience.
Integrity.
Financial wisdom.
Healthy relationships.
Time with God.
Those things rarely attract attention. But they're the very things that keep success from collapsing under its own weight. I've met people who achieved everything they'd hoped for... only to discover they hadn't become the kind of person who could sustain it.
Success isn't always the difficult part. Keeping it often is! Perhaps that's why so much of life feels slow. God seems far more interested in preparing people than simply promoting them. Looking back, some of the seasons I wanted to escape were actually the seasons that built the strongest foundations. At the time they felt frustrating. Now they feel necessary.
Reflection:
What foundation are you building today that nobody else can see?
